IOM Class Spars
These spars were made specifically for the IOM Class of model yachts. I am firmly convinced that the sailtrack and boltrope mainsail provides the most efficient entry and therefore the more efficient mainsail possible. That is why this spar was created.
The cross section of this spar was designed specifically for improved stiffness, and longitudinal stability, something you may not find in other spars of similar design. Not only was this design intended to create a stiffer spar, but more importantly one that would not flex laterally under load. This spar was designed to decrease reliance on the sidestays to keep it straight, but to flex aft under backstay tension in a true arc which will allow for the most accurate tuning of the mainsail shape.
